Cat, as everyone calls him, came to America over 16 years ago with no friends, no money and no job. Now he owns one of the trendiest restaurants in town. But how he went from being a broke, illegal immigrant to a successful family man and entrepreneur nobody knows.
Today is Cat’s daughter, Emma’s 16th birthday, and he is planning a huge party in his restaurant with the help of his wife, Anna, a famous fashion designer, and the Butcher an ex hitman that served 20-years in prison and is now the head of Cat’s kitchen staff.
After Emma blows out her candles Anna gives her the present she was hoping for: a ticket to Medellin to visit her family.
That night Cat can’t sleep. He hasn’t been back to Colombia since he left years ago and he doesn’t want his daughter be there alone. Anna insists that Emma knows how to take care of herself and that the family will be waiting for her.
Emma travels to Colombia and has a great time until she’s kidnapped on the side of the road by a group of masked men. Cat receives a terrifying call from a man named Toro, who tells him his daughter has been taken and he has 24 hours to come up with $250,000 or she will die.
Cat calls his best friend in Colombia, Manny, to help him and he takes the first flight out with the cash strapped to his body to save his daughter.
Cat sets up the exchange with the kidnappers and Manny goes with him. But after they arrive things go sour very quickly when they find out, Emma has escaped.
With Manny’s help Cat manages to track down Emma, but when he thinks they are finally out of danger, he discovers he won’t be able to escape without facing the sins of his treacherous past.
